    650sx questions

My friend just picked up a used 650sx. At the front of the motor, at the top, there is a plug. I'm guessing this is to add crank case oil? How do you check the level? There is a little bit of oil in the bottom of the haul. It has a reddish tent to it.

Anyone know what the temps on the heads should be around? We had 147PSI for compression on both cyliners. Replaced the oil line between the oil pump and carb. Fired it up today and checked the cooling system on the hose. Took it for a short ride and it ran great. I figured the carbs would bog down since it sat for 2 years but I was suprised to see the 650 get up and go. No cut off lanyard though! WTF???

Anyone else with experience on this ski?? Suggestions/comments are apprecaited!
Where the hell is the drain plug on this thing???

I didn't see anywhere to connect a strap over the battery. How does that battery stay secured ?

That port is just an inspection port. DO NOT PUT OIL IN THIS PORT!!!! the straps hook underneath the plastic battery tray. You should see the nubs. I have a special tool for securing straps...it's very high tech. Get a head, Coffman pipe, 42mm Keihin carb, eliminate the rev limiter, get a variable pitch prop and that boat will seem like a different beast.

Kawi stand ups are designed to slow to idle and circle back. You might notice a slight drift to one side or the other if you have your handlebars perfectly straight, due to the design of the nozzle. ( i think mine want to go left a hair). If you set your idle to high, it will go straight not turn (learn from me) I think Randy at Watcon has the adapter for the Kawis to add a lanyard

Couldn't find the nubs under the battery tray. What is your high tech method of holding down the battery?

    Thanks for the help

LOL....I bought a long thin screwdriver from Sears and cut a "V" notch into it. Extremely high tech. lol. You'd be surprised how much easier it is with this bad boy.

This is what you should be looking for. Look at item 32097. You see the nubs, 2 on each side, of the battery tray?
