    Clean your computer fans

Lately been having an overheating proble with my laptop. Downloaded a program called Speedfan that monitors your motherboard controlled cooling fans and anything that has a temp sensor like processors, video cards, hard drives, etc. The two processors were running 110-120f and would skyrocket to 150-160f with anything that was intensive or required a lot of video power (flash for one). At 170f the computer would shut down. Popped the access cover off, which I hadn't done since I upgraded the ram in May '07 to find the culprit. Cleaned up and now I am running a cool 100-110f no matter what.

Just a reminder to do preventive maintenence on your electronics to make them last longer
