    Intake Grate Modification

We ski on a lake that has pockets of tree bark , small peices of wood, etc present.

Has anyone modified the intake grate to : lessen wood going into the impeller or : modifying ther grate to allow for your hands to get into the impeller for removeal of the junk.

if you're using a stock impeller and stuff is getting stuck on the leading edge, knock the sharp edge off with a file so the impleller will be less likely to slice into the twigs. happened 3 times to me with a stocker in 10 hours, never again with an aftermarket impeller that is in comparison blunt on the edge.
I had the idea of taking a brush on a 2-3 ft. long handle to clean the impeller, never tried it though.
