    What causes a runaway

Just had my 95 Kawasaki 650 SC runaway on me.....I did not know what the hell was going on....I yanked the spark plug boot and lanyard and it was still running....what causes this and what else needs to be looked over after running away... Mike

An air leak. You can always plug the exhaust to kill the engine. I would check around the intake and carb area for any leaks.

    runaway

yeah I plan on rebuilding the carb and checking everything....would it be a bad gasket or something in that area?

It could be a gasket, also a crank seal.

air leak can cause it. next time, choke it all the way (or pump the primer really fast) and flood the engine out. by pulling the spake boots, you could have really hurt yourself. was it in the water or on the trailer?
