Dodge Ram Owners!!
I have an 04 Dodge Ram 1500 with 100,000 miles on it. Anytime I sit at idle in any gear, D/R/N/P The idle RPM never stays constant, it will vary anywhere between 400RPM and 1200RPM. It rarely ever will stay at one RPM for more than a second or 2 and every once in awhile will completly shut off. It has been to the dealership where they cleaned all the injectors and it ran great for 24 hours, after that it was back to the same thing, Took it back into them said injectors were still clean and they had no idea why it was doing it but it is a common problem. So does anyone else have this problem and better yet if you have how did you fix it??

Idle air control valve or TPS sensor

I had that problem on my 03 4.7l manual transmission ram. For the life of me I can not remember the fix but I can tell you seasonal changes causes the idle to bounce and even stall but it's short lived. After a day the computer adjusts.

Could be tps it also could be a leaking intake manifold gasket. A Vacuum gauge will tell you a lot.

It maybe as simple as plug wires, I similar symptoms at @70,000 miles on my 02 Ram,They changed they plugs and wires, its been running like a champ, still drinks the HELL out of the gas though................

I may change the plugs this weekend and see what that does, As soon as you give it gas it runs flawlessly you wouldent know it even has a problem. If it were the TPS Sensor what would a dealership charge to fix/replace that?
ALSO to change the subject a little bit, I am in desprete need of new tires and I am trying to find something that has a little bit more sidewall than the stock ones. Has anyone tried this without a lift of any sort on a 2 wheel drive? I found some BFG All terrains which i love the look of in a 375/60/R20 but there 350 a tire at tirerack.com
