    Internet Explorer 8

Anyone using it? It just finishing installing for me and I don't see any big changes. And it seems slower than IE 7. Maybe I should have tried Google Chrome. Still like Safari and Firefox

If anything seems to describe new Microsoft products since Windows 95 it is bloated, bigger, and slower.

Considering Vista's install size is bigger than the hard drive on the first Windows 95 machine I owned the only thing keeping Windows from looking like total bloated crap is the rapidly expanding speed capabilities of processors.

it is huge. that plus the programs i need and the media i have on my laptop is not letting my 160GB hard drive cut it. and HP says 160GB is the biggest my computer can have, and 2GB RAM is the most my computer can have, and vista only runs "ok". My next computer, Apple MacBook, probably 2.4GHz running Leopard and Windows XP with a 250GB or 320GB hard drive

4 gig is the standard memory for Vista machines being sold now. The original problem when Vista came out was most motherboards would only recognize 3 gig of ram and to keep the sticks the same you could only install (2) 1 gig sticks.

Currently we`re using a new Dell 1720 laptop, duo-core blah blah blah, and it kicks arse! it`s a hell of a lot faster than our older desktop.

But Vista is a PITA, it just randomly shuts down with no know cause, that`s fcked up...

oh, and I`m still using Firefox 2. Firefox upgrade 3 is on the desktop, has better looking details but can not compare it`s functions bc it`s on a much slower computer...

I normally use Safari, but I also loaded the latest Firefox on my Apple laptop, I think Firefox is hands down, the fastest browser I've ever used.

I was getting the upgrade notifications on the desktop for FF3 and did that successfully without loosing anything, but I didn`t get the upgrade notice for the laptop, how can I upgrade without loosing my bookmarks etc.?

Mine has started doing that fairly regularly now...WTF? Then it goes into some kind of "configuring updates" BS
