The limiter kicks in at 7450. My 06 hits it with ease. I can feather it in the 7420-7430 range and it's fine. i squeeze that last 1/8 inch it hit's 7450 then retards to 7200, then 7000. I have to fully let off throttle and re-squeeze to get control back.

One time i watched it jump from 7430 right to 7480 on the pet tach before the limiter got it. I wonder what rpm these single pipe 1300 motors can safely turn before they blow w/o the limiter.

aahh your one of the lucky ones who would be able to spin a 14/20 on a stock motor to pick up some more mph.

I bought the ski new and have had a pet tach on it from the first week. After break in, the norm has always been in the 7320-50 range for the past 2 years. It's only been 2 months that it has been hitting the limiter, The ski now has 128 hours on it. so it's possible i may have torn up my wear ring using the 800 grate all summer. The clearance looks good and the stock impeller doesnt look banged up. No increase in top speed, just 100 more rpm than it's used to.

It can get annoying constantly having to let off throttle. It hits limiter with a cold engine just off trailer as well as after a 4 hour, 80 mile riding day. Even heat soak can't bring the rpm's down.

I do have a new 14/20 df sitting here. I'd love to try it out, but i plan on selling or trading the ski in soon on a new fzr or fzs and don't want to give away any expensive aftermarket parts with it.

I'd rather sell them on here and use the $$$ to pick up parts for the new ski.

That`s a good question: what will these engines tolerate?

thats something i have wondered myself, if the two stroke sleds are any comparison the Yami's and Polarises we ran were good for a thousand RPM's over stock maximum R's before mods were needed to keep them together. the factory figured from a warranty standpoint they wouldn't be buying to many motors if they kept them a grand under their capability.
