    Stock Reeds

I know...who still uses stock reeds! I would buy the VF 3 if i had the dough.

Quick question, i am ordering a set of stock reeds for my 02 GPR and i noticed that the reeds for the newer models such as an 04 are cheaper. Is there any difference between the reeds?

    Thanks,
    -Jon

your 02 model is a 1200 and the 04 is a 1300. I don't know if they are the same reed or not.

    this is just my .02

According to www.boats.net, the OEM reeds are
66V-13620-00-00 REED VALVE ASSY $64.56 x 3 = $ 193.68 plus shipping and your time taking everything apart to get to them.

If it were me, I would spend the extra while it is going to be taken apart anyway and buy a set of VF3's and take advantage of the performance gain you will get from it.
Also, if you have not already, do the Jetworks Modification while the rear pipe is out also when you are doing your reed replacement.

I think some boyesen reeds (if they still make them?) or some carbon tech reeds might actually be cheaper, just a thought

A bunch of it is dependant on rpm's, but Yamaha knows a bunch is also dependent on fuel mixture. If it's too rich, they will burn faster. Don't ask me, I don't understand it.

What I DO know, personally, is that a spacer, with stock reeds will outlast a set of stock reeds without a spacer in the same application. Usually with only minor burning at the corners.

I have no comments on the carbon reeds, since I'm waiting to see my first set after 50 hours. I've already seen minor chipping, but NO burning.
