    Mega Pressure Relief

Tired of the buck? I am.. Heres a sneek peek at my latest project in process..

Should be testing at 81+ with the SS grate and VX impeller this sunday, which previously had the buck after installing the SS grate, even with the (original) pressure relief mod..
    Will post results after testing..
Untill then, ill just keep my fingers crossed and hope it works as well as i think it will.
    Ross

    Ross,
I'm doing something parallel. I pounded in some aluminum plates, and having the edges welded. Unfortunately the only valves I found were plastic. Not sure if they will last.

    Ross,

Why would the grate make it buck?

I was on the edge to start with, and the SS grate simply loads more water in the tunnel from its thinner bars, sharp leading edges and slightly larger/longer front scoop, which in turn creates more tunnel pressure.
IMO, this grate is in between a 800 and a 1200 grate.. Maybe its a 1000 grate?

great job Rossman. again, what you are doing is making this pump operate in its "pump curve" more efficiently. As I have mentioned in the past, all pumps have a pump curve.

See link below. this applies to all pumps. I see this in the refinery all day long when it comes to process conditions. In our situation, the water is our process, the horsepower and speed we travel is the variable.

You guys have come to the point where you are fine tuning it not only ot make it more efficient, but SAFER. Keep the progress moving foward peeps !!!

Those are some big valves Ross!!

IMO they just need to be a oneway valve with very little spring pressure.

    Keep us posted.
