buying a GPR.... powervalves or no powervalves???
I'm looking into buying another GPR. i was either gonna get an 03'(get wave eaters) with PV's or an 05' without PV's..... other than dropping a valve, what are the pros and cons between the 2 setups??

If it were me, I'd go 05' and newer.

what kind of speeds are people getting out of the 05-06`s? i havent really seen any numbers posted on here,,only 04`s and back,,,are there any 05`s running in the mid to upper 70`s ? if not why are all of you guys recommending the 05 and 06,,just curious!

stock 05's and 06's are getting 66-67 mph all day long right out of the crate.
yes, there are several that have been modified and are in the mid-70's. This hull is so good that you can damn-near just stick a J-plate on there and be in the 70's with nothing else done.

If it were me, I'd go with an 05' or 06' and be done with worrying about powervalves.

Get an 02 for about $4000.00 and then buy the GroupK big bore for
$2000.00 and then buy a Riva 2 bar intake grate, a J-plate (ride plate), a Riva 14/21 SB Solas Concord and an Advent CDI. All this will grand total about $7500.00 and you will have a monster 75+mph ski with no power valves. I personally think the color scheme on the 02 is the best Yamaha has done with the GPR.
Of course this is only one way to skin a cat and it requires that you tear down your engine to the crankcase. There are many ways to make a GPR of any year go fast. Good luck.
