    1986 JS 550 - Project Ski

So today I bought a js 550, the hull is pretty beat up but the engine turns over so next thing is to get it started hopefully this weekend. I am totally new to stand-ups so this should be fun.

A few ?'s before I begin, it looks like the owner re-painted the hull and filled in the fire extinguisher hole. Do they make a holder kit for inside the hull or what??

Also where do you find these metal nose/hull braces for the ski's?? I hear the hull needs to be reinforced but where can you buy these braces??

Here are a few pics when I got it

took a closer look today, looks like the guy used bondo and built up where the f.e. plug was and covered the vin # if its still there. AfterI get it running I may sand it all down and at that point hack the bondo off and make it how it was. We will see.

Ya I plan to do some jumping once I get things all working, so I need to brace it up.

its a federal law to have a FE on a pwc, if you get caught by the coast guard, youre screwed.

if the compartment is filled, you could mount it on the inside of the hood.

Just a update of pics, I have been busssssy. MAde custom hood scoops, fixed the front nose, shaved the gas cap, made foot holds, cut them out, defoamed due to water in the foam, about to refoam, sanded the ski and right now im about to re-foam.

Nice updates to an old ski, Pwgsx. Always like to see folks keeping the PWC heritage alive.
