    Need more Air!!

ok, got the ski back on the water today. Runs strong, but needs to be tuned. bounces, but I will get that fixed..

Have holes in the hood/bucket.., but

I took my seat of and the ski came to LIFE. I gained an easy 60RPMs, and the acceleration was night/day..

what can I do to add more Air?

Watch your tach when you take the seat off.You are leaning out the fuel when doing this, just be careful. You are adding more air to the motor and its cooler air.Its very common to get .5-.7 tenths when you take the seat off.I would only take the seat off for speed runs only. You can look at my 1500 build,i cut holes in the seat back in 02'.It helps get air into the motor.

You can also cut out the visor, under the wind screen.(also in build thread)

    1) remove the storage bucket

    2) open the front hood, manually click the latch shut

    3) close the hood so it rests on the already closed latch, there will now be a 1/2 inch gap that will let lots of air in

Philip, I don't know.......leaving that hood loose and chattering around doesn't sound safe, espically if your going 85-90 and if wind catches it .........watch out. Fly-boy this is your best bet.....

-I've also used spacers around the REAR of the stock seat, in the past, to create a path for the hot air to exit. NOT MUCH, just enough to unseal the rear of the seat.

-I've also seen folks cut off the seal at the back of the seat, and swiss cheese the battery box.

-Some of the conversion boyz, took and drilled 2 MORE 4" air intakes up under the cowling.

-Another trick is to cut the bottom of the bucket out (or swiss cheese it) and drill holes up under the lid, under the clear hood.

Flyboy this is what I do. My engine doesn't need anymore air than this turning 8000rpm with tripples. I've took the seat off with no gains in rpms.

If your gaining rpms then either your running too rich to begin with or its not getting enough air.
