It's used for racing so the fuel does not slosh around in the tank and you could pick up air instead of fuel and go lean and burn up or just die out .

How would foam in the tank keep it from not sloshing around?

And how would the fuel exit the foam when the level runs low?

Sorry for the dumb Q's. I just don't understand.

You stuff the tank about 3/4 full of the foam so it can't slosh around and it's really not foam it's more like a mesh so it doesn't absorb the fuel it just keeps it from moving sorta of ,they use it alot in dirt track racing when your alaways turning it keeps the fuel stable. i've even had it in the gas tanks of the kids go carts .

When using foam,It has to be changed every few years(or as recommended),as it will break down.
