How long of a life? for the 4-tec

How long do the 4-tec motors last before you have repair or replace major parts ,I saw in another post the 05's were known for rusting valves . I have an 08 do I have to worry about any major issues besides the ceramic washer ,whats the average hours for these motors to last and I have an extended warranty are the hours unlimited usually?

No worries with the 08's, they all have metal washers. I've read about guys getting 350 hours on a 4-tech and it keeps running. They are built like a tank, according to shibby. Where problems arise, they usually have been highly modified.

You are in luck - all the '08 SC-equipped 4-Tec engines have metal washers, so you don't need to worry about that. The BRP extended warranty does not have an hour or mileage limitation. Just make sure that you perform all of the recommended procedures that are listed in the Owners Manual and keep receipts/records of these procedures... Ron

    atom1234,
I agree they are very reliable, but not bullet proof so it's good to have that warranty. In my experience the B.E.S.T. warranty will take care of you if you have any problems, and don't forget you are REQUIRED to replace the supercharger every 100 hours or your warranty can be voided on the 2008 models...

That was Paul with a 2002 GTX NA and now his got over 1200hrs on it, his X girlfriend with a 2004RXP logged over 700hrs on the original engine.
