    pump bearings

heres a pic of my front pump bearing 43hrs new take notice of how hot it has been running as the ball race has been heat stained blue. it was only a matter of time before total failure. it had also expanded a little as it has score marks from the stained ring on pressing it out. there are others who have experienced the same overheated bearing issues.

This is the joys of a bearing that is not up to the job!

Do care who say's there is no problem with pump bearings

The proof speaks louder than opinions, THERE IS A PROBLEM,it's not if it will effect you but more like when will it happen !!!! my advice check every 25hr till a fix is found

Good Post / Info. I have 100 hours on mine and have not had any problems . . . I haven't even looked at them. But as "preventitive" I think I will replace them anyway.

OUCH! That is motivation enough. On my old Ultra 150, the pump bearings would start "whistleing" a bit before they went. And if you did nothing they would be toast in 2 hours. It sounds like on the 250 the Bearings could go without any warning whatsover. Thanks all for the heads up . . . I will replace. jb

Yeah what happens is when the pump goes, it shoves the shaft forward and pushes the crank forward, getting the bearings.....................

im guessing it did fail as it spun in the casing (my bearing also seems fine to spin but there is no way i would trust it from the heat it has produced) as you can see by mine the heat has made the bearing expand in the case, as it has grab marks where the heat has been from removal. im guessing eventually the heat expands the bearing in the case stretching it then allowing the bearing to spin when it cools down. what are your thoughts oh mighty master waz?

I cannot believe the mfrs are still putting a single bearing in skis with 200 - 300 hp. A lot of us with RXPs have gone to Skat's double or triple bearing mod and synthetic gear oil rather than single bearing with grease. IMO 250+ hp just puts too much stress and torque on a single bearing pump, and since failure on the 250Xs takes out the motor too ... phew, I would upgrade. Anybody know if Skat has double and triple bearing mods for the Kawi pump? I imagine they do, may be worth a call.

Have been in search of double row bearing with suppliers for awhile now, Till then I have modded the shaft and am using 2 standard bearing's .
I know it isn't the same but gives me some extra piece of mind.

Will keep all informed of out comes on all events
