Thread: Wetsuit Sizing

Is there a secret to getting a full wetsuit on I just received mine in the mail, Hyperflex XL and I cant zip up the top, I am going to assume I need the next size up, although I ordered it according to the manufact size chart. Its like trying to squeeze 20# of Sh**t in to a 10# package. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

yeah buy size up and clean by rinse, then dish soap, then rinse again.
The traces of film left by dish soap will help slide on and off and prevent rashing.

I know you will not like my suggestion but here goes. Buy where you can try it on or the shop does the measuring to custom order. After years of diving and enough gear to out pace the buying for my ski. Wet suits can be uncomfortable if they do not fit right. You may pay more at a dive shop but if they make you happy it is worth it. Consider a suit that varies the weight, example my favorite is a 345. The torso is a 5 the legs a 4 and the arms a 3 in thickness, flexible but warm. Dry suit is great but some people never get used to the neck seal.

I just sold one that was too big. A dive shop is the way to go cause some internet stores don't accept returns.
Not to mention they all have different sizing charts.
I use Barbay's method but with baby shampoo. Don't like the powder but it works.

I ended up buying 2 sizes larger to fit..I don't like to have to soap up to get into mine...
You all just need to realize that your fatter than you really are and buy clothes that fit...
Oh, Scuba.com will take returns on just about anything...

I bought from wetsuit warehouse and sometimes they have user reviews on how they fit compared to the size chart. I Bought the size that matches my size. If i was inbetween i bought the size bigger or i made sure that I was in the lower part of the range for a particular size. The fit were good every where, but my shoulders and arms. i always have issues with fit around my shoulders and arms so nothing new, its normal.

Thanks for all the info guys, just got the next size up in the mail. And it fits pretty good, a bit tight in the chest but i guess that is normal. I never wore a wet suit before so i guess it will take some getting use too. As for the dish soap and the baby powder I am definately going to try both. Hope to see you guys out there in the early spring!!!
