If the battery had a good charge on it there should be no problem starting it after 5 and a half weeks but only time will tell.

It's been my experience that once a OEM battery is left off a charger for any extended period of time and looses it's charge, it's usually won't take another charge. You might save yourself some time and pick up a good sealed battery off of the online store and call it a day.

it should start. but if you dont want to risk being at the lake with no battery, you could just pick up a spare

Anyone with a PWC needs to pick up a battery tender. All of our batteries will loose some charge in the Winter or any time when not ridding.
I put a battery tender on both my skis ever so often when ever i am working on the skis. It really helps maintain the life of the batteries.
A good battery tender knows what shape the battery is in and will apply the right cycle to recharge its life.
Just my opinion, but even if its a new battery it does not hurt to recylcle the battery to extend the life of it when not in use.
