    657/720 differences?? how to tell

    what are the differences....the ignition box says 657X on it...I was told its the 720 engine...whats the deal? its in a 95 SPX

    your 657x is actually a 650 motor. there was two different 650's. an early, and a later one.

    the 95 SPX is a 650.

    The first thing I look at is the head,650 had two water nipples at the rear of the head & the one on the right rear is bigger 3/4.

    The 720 had 3 water nipples on the head 2 at rear & 1 up front all the same size 1/2.

    so they were all 650's in 95?

    The SPX was a 650, but someone could have installed a 720,its pretty easy
