    750SL Intake Grate???

I have a 1994 750SL. Should I get the R&D or the Solas intake grate??? The solas appears to have 2 fins where the R&D only has 1.

    Any thoughts?

Solas for rougher water. May scrub a little off the top speed.

R&D for rough water, but still keeps good top speed.

Most on here run the R&D intake grate.

What type of water do you usually ride?

    solas

seems like the solas had an issue where the thin blades would break off then trash the prop and stator on the way thru

I ride in the river about 1/2 mile from the inlet. It is usually pretty choppy. I was thinking about going with the R&D, but then saw the solas had 2 fins. I'll stick with the R&D unless anyone can suggest a good reason not to.

Got a pic or a link?

If memory serves me correct, it's an open grate style. Those are usually good for smooth water. Rough water usually benefits from a scoop style intake.

    Ocean Pro Link

Yes it is the open style. I thought it wouldn't be good for ruff water either. BUT, I thought I read about the angle of the grate feeding more water and preventing cavitation.

We've tried every intake grate out there and I personally prefer the R&D 650 intake grate for a nice blend of hook up and top speed.
The 750 grate takes away too much top speed for me and I don't notice much difference in hook up between the 650 and 750 grate.

I was only able to find a 750 grate on the R&D site.

The link below had new R&D grates for the 650.

Will the R&D 650 grate fit with the 750 ocean pro ride plate (ocean version)?????
