    CDL License, Anybody have one?

Anybody out there with a CDL license? Looking for a career change and was just wondering if anybody has any inside info.

Couple of friends tell me they are in big demand and others tell me that career is getting saturated with CDL licensed drivers.

    Any info is appreciated.

CDL's are in high demand in the LTL and over the road driver world. The driver pools are getting smaller and smaller each year. I work for FedEx Freight and we educate our own folks to become drivers with an in house school. This will keep us ahead of the shortage and we already know their work ethic. Drivers make a lot money and the demand is high right now. The only issue would be depending on your state it could take up to 3 months to get your Haz-Mat Back ground check back. If you have clean MVR then I would go for it!

You can go here and take some sample tests. These tests are pretty close to what was on what i took.

yea but there is damn good money in that industry - some start out at 60k and the earning potential is unlimited. I would find a private carrier that has their own rigs and custom pay structure - those are the guys that make the most money ---not the J.B. Hunt or Averett Express Guys.

You will be away from home a good bit but well compensated and you will get to see all 48 continental states over time.

Dude, comparing J.B. Hunt to Averett Express is apples and oranges. Although Averett is not the highest paying LTL, ACT Cooper, Southeastern, Watkins, Roadway, etc, etc. all pay better...but you still make good money and have a normal life (even on team trucks you have every weekend off even though it may be during the week). J.B. Hunt will hire anyone that can fog a mirrior and put their ass on the road for 3 mos. or longer makin less money to boot.

And if you are JB HUNT driver you can't go to McDonald's and play on the playground. They banned them because to many were falling off and getting hurt.
