    Pressure Relief Holes after 85+mph

Just wondering if anyone has tried drilling quarter inch holes thru intake grate and pump shoe to relieve pressure at over 85+mph. I was reading a thread a while back from Jerry on this that said you could gain 1 mph on an 85+mph boat by doing this. Just wondering if there are any results posted out there and if so where they might be. Trying to locate this to figure where the holes should be drilled and if the size is correct. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks JK

Yes, He is refering to an old thread were Jerry mentioned a 1mph or so gain but only on 85+ boats but it would also be nice to know what speeds the rxp may buck at. An 85+mph buck does not sound like fun.

Jsut my .02 but I think its going to be mandatory to install an 1/8" npt fitting in the shoe attached to a gauge and record pressures at all speeds. This will give a little more info on when and why it bucks.

I think Jesse should install a pressurre fitting on his pump extension to measure pressure..he may just save someone a hospital visit.

The extension would be a no brainer but the regular shoe is a little tough. Would really like to know all the pressures and when they start to overstuff.

Xs seem to be a little more violent without as much or any warning. #s might help everyone.
