Need opinions....supposed to fork up $ tomorrow.

    I got a deal on a 2005 FX Cruiser.....or somewhat.

    The Bad
    Always salt water used.
    Sometimes left in the water
    Scratched all over
Not that clean in engine compartment.

    The Good
124 hours about 2 on new motor.
New engine from yamaha engine still under warranty
    Runs perfect

    The cost.
    $3,000.00 no trailer

Is there anything else that can go bad with this ski that can make that $3,000 a bad deal? I need a 3 seater to carry out the gf and the gpr just aint cuttin it. I know I need to do work on all of the hose clamps and some paint work because I like all of my stuff clean.

I have heard that they are really realiable and good in chop. What speeds should I expect out of it? It is not a HO. Thanks!

    My opinion

The boat is "worth" a lot more, so $3k is a pretty good deal. However, assuming it's a 2 stroke, if you go to resell it, you might have some trouble because 2 strokes are getting harder and harder to sell, unless it's a GPR.

Also, if you are handy enough, and you don't mind making your stuff look new, go for it. You could very well easily get whet you paid for it in the end.

So IMO there are pros and cons as you described.

Perhaps you pay to have a dealer look at it? Have you rode it yet?

FX is a 4 stroke not a 2 stroke. Doesn't sound like a bad deal, take it for a ride. Check out the pump and impeller, could be some expense there if they're worn.

It is a FX cruiser 4 stroke. kbb is $6565 and nada is $6730. Doesn't seem like the Fx's have alot of problems so guess I will have an addition to the family tomorrow.

ps. spoke to the guy again........he said yamaha went through the ski 1 month ago! Definitely sold tomorrow. I will post pics on saturday.

You're right, it's a 4 stroke. My bad. I typed faster than I was thinking.

Agree with Voodoo, ride it, then buy it. Good deal man.

They sometimes leave the ski in the ocean..........got water inside somehow...you know the story.

Oh well, I got the ski yesterday. Took it out for a decent ride. Rides fine. After about 1 hr, it wouldnt go over 8,000 rpms. My buddy on a xl700 passed me. Opened the intake and there was oil. Pulled the dipstick, there was about 3/4 inch of oil over the full on the dipstick. Pulled the filter and after about 5 minutes it cleared up. I need a gps cause it seems a tad bit slow. I am figuring it does about 45 - 48 around there. I have heard that it should do 52 - 55.

One word of warning..........If you have a FX and love it, Dont and I mean Dont ride a gpr. The FX is incredible in the rough and slop but to me kind of boring compared to my GPR. I mainly have this ski for the gf and 2 up. But if I had to have 1 ski, better believe my GPR is staying. I would have to sacrifice my aching muscles and shattered bones on the rough days but I love my GPR!
