Rich, what we are trying to figure out is how does the resistor stay in place? Thanks to billy we know that the ohm's is 988 so a 1k resistor will work fine. Its not for the water temp but for the cat temp.We will be installing a d-plate in his ski very shortly.I read somewhere about some shrink tubing but i'm trying to picture that working.Any help would be appreciated.

I cut the connector to make a pigtail, one wire a half inch longer than the other...took a butt connector and cut it in half...spliced in the resistor and taped it up

10k ohm is what you need (10,000 ohm resistor). You can use it in your Cat Con Plug as well as the Pipe Temp Sensor Plug.
