    Speedfreaks Pump shoe protector

I picked up a pump shoe protector from the online store and am wondering if I have to run a R&D girdle? Is it nesessary or an option?

Looks like I will need to remove the girdle I already installed and then install this piece and finally re-install the R&D girdle?

    Thanks.

    Steve,
Did you have to do any grinding to make the intake grate fit flush or did it all fit in nicely???

Sweat bats, yes the shoe protector goes on first then the girdle.

Snowman, I did not have to mod my grate, everything went back together nicely, was tight to get bolt holes lined up but not that bad.

I have seen where some have had to mod grate to fit with shoe protector.
If it had to be done, it would not take much removing some of the lip on grate.

I was wondering at what sort of speed should you consider fitting these two mods, and whats their function?

I have heard from the experts that 77 to 78 mph is when you will see the pump shoe break.

The shoe protector is to help support the lip of the shoe were it is known to break.

The girdle connects to the grate. It then is hooked behind the ride plate. There fore it is to help the grate from ripping out in the rear were it is prone to happening.

If you have 08 ride plate or 08 ski the girdle is not needed as the grate connects to ride plate much better and is reinforced.
