    WARNING: Fuel Smells/Leaks 08

I just pulled my fuel pump assy. to mod for an RRFPR. Well I found a couple problems. The retainer ring was cracked and the fuel pump module assy was cracked on the top. So if you are smelling fumes don't be surpise if these are cracked.

Here are some pictures. The light shinning thru the fuel pump assy top picture is the crack. You can see the crack in the retaining ring pretty clear.

There was a fuel line placement recall for the 08 RXPX. This part has Bosch stamped on it. The fuel pump assy. is very thin in the area that is cracked. I would say it is defective and a fire/explosion hazard for sure. The ring was just maybe over tighten from the factory.

Dang Jim, how did you break that? JK

Really though, I'm glad you noticed that. I was smelling eccesive fuel odor in my boat also ever sense I installed my RUDE rrfpr and finally figured out that the large o-ring that was included with it was to thin and not sealing good.

It looks like 08 RXT, RXTX, RXP and RXPX all have the same fuel pump assy. I didn't check for GTI's.

Jim, Does that make you wonder about both o-rings? Remember seeing a post from you about needing what seemed to be high RRFPR pressure settings to get a skis AFR right. Internal leak at tank? Maybe. Losing volume/pressure.
