Question about the 787 part interchangeability

Looking at rebuilding a new to me 787 engine. Engine is finished, rod went through the cases.

Going to be surfing ebay for parts.

For the 787 what is the interchangeably of jugs, cases, etc. Are all the 787 parts the same except for the fuel injected 787?

    Thanks

Yes, with the exception of the 95 800 engine. Just stay away from that model.

For the FI model, is anything interchangeable. Crank, jug piston??

    Or nothing at all.

I'm not sure, but you can research the microfish yourself at the left. If the part numbers are the same, between an RFI engine and a carbed engine, then they are the same.

The only part off the RFI that is interchangable is the cases & a good mod as they are watercooled & the carbed motors are not, nothing else besides the RV & shaft are usable in a carbed motor.

Because the porting is different, the carbs are different because of it, the rear PTO threads are different. It was the first release of the 787 engine, and just had some issues. Just like the 97.5 951, it's best to stay away from them.

Get at least a 96 better a 97 787.The 95 and some 96s had more than a few serious problems one being the balance shaft assembly, besides the above mentioned problems. There are a few used parts dealers that you might get most of what you need at a good price.Ask around in the forums and look thru classifieds>Marvin
