    650sx Control Cable

    Hey guys,
I am a usual polaris guy but I recently came to acquire two 88 650sx's for next to nothing and have begun my winter project. Already fired one up, 150 psi on both cylinders, runs great

Anyway my question is a curiousity about the "control cable" that is mounted there on the exhaust manifold. What is it? What does it do? Is it important? I tried a search but came up empty. Also went on Kawi's website for the parts diagrams and I can't see what its function is.

    TIA

    -Steve

If you get water in the engine that opens up at the bottom of the case to drain out the water.

Hey you need to order crankcase block off kits for your skis ASAP!

The plunger is to allow water to drain from the cases, but on the older skis the gasket down below rots out and causes the potential for an air leak and then it's seize town... order a block off for the oil injection too...

correct. these are known to go bad, and then your motor will run lean. i have both , crank case drain block offs, and oil injection block off's here, in stock.

if i can pick your brain for a moment - is engine removal necessary to install the crankcase blockoff? is it a simple thing?

it can be done with the motor in the ski. not hard at all. you will need to pull the exh pipe and starter off.

on a 650sx, it should only take about a 1/2 hr to do.
