01 GPR Project- Cheap Thrills
So I was stuck with a hull I could sell after parting out an ex race boat with triples.
Also, I was looking around at all the extra speed junk in the garage and I got to thinking?
Sell the my junk really cheap or put it to use??
I decided to have fun with a build during the winter and then sell the ski in spring.
The Hull with crappy home attempt of gel coating that was cracking and had runs. Here are some pix of the befor and after pictures of the hull.
I flaked off and sanded off the crappy gel coat / paint.
Also, DCJetski and myself fully striped the hull
I kept it simple and cheap by sticking with white paint. I have a body / painter friend who had a left over qt. from a truck paint job. So all I had to do is just take care of my buddy for time and hard labor.

cracking / flaking gel coat
Here are those pictures of the before paint work that didn't upload on my first post. Sad thing is this wasn't the worst of it and the previous owner was proud of his work. The bottom of the hull had many runs and drip marks. Looked like the back of a toad with bad warts.

Bill & Jim- thanks a bunch! Just got out of the shop. Its coming along, but had a minor set back with the handle bars/ I didn't realize the old bars were slightly chopped on the ends. So i has to switch them with another set I had laying around with the end caps with threads still intacted.
Jim, I've been checking out exotic signs graphic kits after I seen how nice your wifes xlt turned out.

pump tunnel - update
My inserts weren't spinning, but it will eventually happen. Not to mention I dont want the shoe to drop on me. So I air hammered the old adhesive and inserts out. Then 90 degree grinder to clean up the surfaces. Next, I made a template and cut out 5 pieces of woven fiberglass cloth to cover the tunnel w/ west system resin & fast hardener. Finally, I sealed the new oem pump inserts with some 3m 5200 to the home made pump tunnel re-inforcement
PS - reglued the water box vibration pad, which had fallen off.
