    impeller questions

what pitch is most desirable for XP 800? For instance, I saw a skat trac 18/21 but it said it was not for stock ski's. is this pitch not ideal for a mostly stock ski?

Solas XO or Skat 16/24 swirl for R&D 85/88 nozzle, or Skat Swirl 17/22 for stock nozzle.

Any other number higher or lower will not be any better over stock. And too large (like the one you mention) may excessively load the engine and seize a piston.

If you are searching for a deal, get the right prop at the right price.

I have 17/22 Skat-Swirl with R&D 85/88 in my stock 97xp 800, but the only changes is air filter, would this be ok? or should i change to stock nozzel? i found a better mid and top on the R&D nozzel.
    thanks

You did rejet to accommodate the filter, correct?

The 17/22 loads the engine more than the 16/24, it will give better top end with the R&D just do plug chops to make sure the engine is not going lean from the load.

And remember we are talking two different hulls here...the original poster was asking about his X-4.

Hey dre, normally if you add flame arrestors it will be very lean on bottom, and the pop-off needs to be decreased to allow more fuel sooner. You probably have accelerator pump carbs (I think the 97's XPs were the first year) so this may be what has saved you from poor throttle response. As long as your plug chops look good, you are fine.
