looks almost like the head was damaged causing damage to the cyl. I might be wrong but deto I thought would show more at the top middle part of the cyl.

17:1 compression and race fuel generally brings no central detonation at all. You need a sealing problem generally to get it. and hey presto, we had a sealing problem
you will get deto in the middle on a high comp motor with inferior fuel every day of the week tho.
heres a shot of a speedy pull apart job, so crap and hand prints everywhere lol
dont worry, much neater now
4pm on friday here, going home to have a chat with jack daniels.

It looks like you dropped your head before you put
it on. Everything I see says its not deto. But I
need to look at the piston out of the bore.

Now that has to smell real good!

according to my competitors
the reason deto usually isn't a problem as the octane rating looks after that, but one tiny nick in the o-ring!! and damn I'm glad I got curious and flipped the head off in time. Next race would have been feckin expensive other wise.

Your dome looks just like mine when my ski died. I ended up having to get a new jug, piston, dome and o-ring kit. What a pita
