i've checked this and it is the oil pressure sensor it has appeared before and we filled with oil and hasnt happened since but today it did as soon as i built engine up to around 4000 rpm it came on and i just got along beep whichdidnt stop until you turn engine off. so we put oil in and it was showing about half full on dipstick but it still did this
when this happened last time i bought new oil pressure sensor but never fitted this as it went away

This might be a stupid question, but..

Half way UP the dipstick, or half way in the measurement area?

When you checked the oil level with the ski on the trailer, was the ski level, and did you warm the engine, let it idle for 30 seconds, turn it off, wait another 30 seconds, then check the oil? I know that if I saw an oil alarm, I would be hesitant about running the engine very much... Ron

Remove Cylinder head cover and start you're ski for 5 sec.
If there oil going out (throwing out oil from camshaft sprocket side )
If there are no oil that mean you had bad oil pump
If there oil that mean chick the sensor
