06 GPR VS 06 RXP
OK, I am looking for honest answers here. I know we are little biased here in the Yami forum, but for good reasons! I am in the market for another ski. 06 GPR or 06 RXP? I love the GPR and I am impressed by the RXP. I can think of very strong pros for both skis, as well as a couple cons. So here are a few,
06 GPR Pros-
Beautiful color scheme
Superior hull design
no power valves
impressive pull right out of the box
I have tons of go fast parts for this ski
06 GPR Cons-
non pv engine does not take nearly as well to porting as pv engine
2 strokes are being phased out
06 RXP Pros-
4 stroke (low end torque and efficeincy)
great hole shot right out of box
beautiful ski (chicks dig em) LOL
Stage 3 - 80+ MPH
06 RXP Cons-
4 stroke (much harder to wrench on)
The 06 cam has changed. (ski has been reported not to pull nearly as hard as the 04, 05)
Expensive to mod
These are the things I have been thinking about. I will tell you I am currently leaning very heavily towards another GPR. Also, I ride in calm to 1' chop salt water and love to race! So with that said, if you were in the market for a new ski, which would you buy and why? Thanks

Good post. No matter how much I love my GPRs, the RXP makes you stop and think. Even the RXT is a hot.

This is getting to be a real tough choice, especially with gas and oil prices. My vote is to also wait and see what yamaha comes out with in the 4 stroke sc department next year. Of course if you're not worried about dumping a lot of fuel and oil into a ski, the GPR is really a great ride. My brother has an FXHO and I'm really starting to appreciate the 4 strokes for a lot of reasons. Very smooth power delivery and fuel efficient. Maybe you should flip a coin

has Sea Doo done anything about the supercharger clutch or the ceramic washers on the 06 RXP? the 05's are famous for going out. my friend has had his 05 RXP in the shop twice in the last 9 months for these problems.

I don't think Yami is going to step up to the plate. There may not be any musclecraft at all for 07 in the Yamaha line-up.

I just went through the same and decided to get the RXP.
Like other's have said you can wait to see what Yamaha comes out with for next year, but then you are going to wait until go-fast-parts are developed for it. The 06 has also been reported to be slower than the previous years, but so far the jury is still out. If it is slower, it will only be by 10ths of a mile only. According to a thread over at seadoo.net, the 06 is supposed to be a much better ski than the 04/05.
The clutch issue has been resolved in the 06 models.
Its a hard personal decision, but the truth is the RXP is a great ski. Now all I need is good weather so I can finish putting the 10 hour breakin on it.

We were screwed by Sea-Doo back in 1999. The damaged they caused was irreversible. NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!
I RATHER SWIM!!!!
Kawi's would be a great option. Talk to TJ
