Sharps 1350 Bigbore Build
I wanted to put together a Sharp’s Bigbore 1350. Knowing first hand how they perform, (they flat out haul ass) I figured I wanted to get one done up before there are no more. I also wanted Richie to come visit as I have been to see him at his place and I wanted to return the hospitality. So on December 19th, a week before Christmas, in a blinding snowstorm, he and his wife Tammy made the trip. It’s supposed to be a 5 hour trip but wound up taking them 9 hours due to the weather.
They showed up on Friday night and the 4 of us hung out and BS’ed, mostly about watercraft. The man’s knowledge is vast and seemingly endless. He lost me a lot of the time, but it was all good.
On Saturday morning I fed the big guy breakfast. Richie don’t function too well unless he’s on a full tank. Lol…
We then built the engine. I had been accumulating parts for a while. Ronnie (Richie’s father) and Richie took care of getting the cases, cylinders, pistons, heads (etc) together and correctly set-up. Ronnie’s machine work looks like jewelry. NICE.
It basically consists of MSX cylinders punched out to 89mm. A full circle stroker crank assembled, trued and welded by the Sharps. Sharp’s custom cut snow heads. A Sharps Marine head cover. Obliviously it has all the other little tricks.
Case and cylinder porting. W-style Fusion reeds. Reed spacers.
It will breathe through a set of Blackjack 48mm’s and Virage TX triples.
It will eventually reside in a Virage TX, but that won’t be this coming summer. It’s a more long-term project.
I can’t thank these guys enough. It was awesome having Richie and Tammy here for an extended weekend. The knowledge shared and the custom work done is second-to-none. Richie's know-how, hands-on approach, and attention to detail is incredible. I really appreciate all you did Richie.
I’ll be dressing it up some more and taking more pictures as I go. I’d like to thank Jay at Atlantic as well. He helped out a bunch too. I couldn't be happier with the finished product!!!

I must say, she sure looks purty!!!
Can you get rid of that oil supply nipple, it's taking away from the flow of that looker.
By the way, it almost looks as good as mine.
Of course I didn't get the pleasure of meeting Richie and his lovely lady.

I like the added third pulse line to the center cylinder...going to make the carb line work much simpler!
