- There are two bolts holding a small stainless bracket under the VTS. No need to remove the bolts, it will also slide out of a grommet on the bottom of the VTS housing on this.
- Remove the black washer nut on the transom plate [external] where the rod comes thru the hull just above the pump housing.#20
- There are two electrical connectors on the VTA assembly. One for the motor, one for the module

Do you have a small pair of channel locks? yeah, my pump was out when I took mine out.....
Uhm.... The pump pulls easy.....not to make any more work on ya, but yeah, it does sit deep in there
Unless you have a small crescent wrench you want to cut the handle and make a shorty

i have always been able to reach it with a metwrench socket set, using one of the larger sockets and two extensions. no problem.
i have heard that some have heated a peice of PVC pipe, that was close in diameter, and forced it/ squeezed it over the nut while the pvc was hot and malleable, instant VTS tool.
its not very tight, so if you have any type of tool it will spin off.

also heard of going to Home Depot and getting a plumbers socket kit, supposedly one of the parts in the kit fit perfect. not expensive either.
here it is at sears...
The five-piece set comes complete 21/31" x 27/32", 29/32" x 31/32", 1-1/32" x 1-3/32", 1-5/32" x 1-9/32", 1-11/32" x 1-7/16" and a bar handle wire for easy storage

You can also go to home depot and try a Basin Wrench. 4.00

.....believe it or not i was able to reach the exhaust tip inside- i was upside down head first in the hull -back of my neck was laying on the SC and my right hand was strecth out toward the exhaust tip.....
i guess VTS stays there now....but.....the blue Rxhaust Coupler Kit was waaaay tooo short. So now i puld the water box out again and i just have to come up with a longer Coupler. (at least 3" more longer)
