    EFI control unit testing

Does anyone know of a way of testing these unit to see if they are faulty. Mine flashes all the leds correctly

ie green led on at idle, yellow goes on during acceleration and red goes on at high revs

however, my plugs are showning lean (white) after checking and I tried increasing the red pot, in fact I set this at 8 or 9 expecting the ski to 4 stroke with a rich mixture and the plugs still came out white.

Any idear other than finding another unit to swop and see if that fixes it?

    Cheers

    Kev

It takes a while to color the plugs, especialy on the EFI boats, since they burn cleaner. What rpm's and what mods.

Good point as I've just fitted new plugs.

The engine felt OK but when you look at the plugs and they are white I start to worry. Also as I turned the red pot up I expect it to do the same as going up too far with a main jet and the engine would start to 4 stroke at the top end ie above 5-6000 rpm.

As for eng mods, VF3, heads, flame arresters, jet works mod, d plate and removal of the sound suppresion.

The EFI is set to 7926 and tried setting the 3rd red pot to 9 as I expected the ski to 4 stroke at the high revs, just like increasing the main jet size on carbs.

The conditions were to choppy to get any rev readings as could only get to 55 ish before the ski started to fly.

Iíve got a tiny tach, I did have a PET 2100 but that lasted about 2 hour before the salt water got to it

The eng was running fine and as I have changed the plugs, with 20 mins running time, it might be what Water Woody said and take a bit of time for the plugs to colour up. But its not good when you take the plugs out and they show white.

Iíll see how the ski goes this weekend.
