    some input please on the 951

    well i have a friend that said he would sell me his 97 sea doo xp limited with trailer for $600 sounds like a pretty good deal so far but he says the motor is blown (he doesnt no alot about anything with an engine) i havent really looked at it yet and im just tryin to figure out if it would be a good buy or not....and also if the motor is blown would it be really expensive to rebuild......thanks

    600 plus 1000 = pretty good ski for the money

    the problem im lookin at is that if the crank is locked up them i have to send it out to get bearings and see if it is bent and if the crank is bent then im gettin in real deep cause cranks arnt cheap

    thats true but i was just lookin at some pricing from alantic jet sports and i can have the crank rubuilt for a pretty good price or a complete engine rebuild with a new crank and pistions and all the gaskets and ects are not to bad ether.....how do i go about tell if its just the top end that is locked up.....thanks

    In 2 strokes, when the top end goes, it will usually damage the bottem end. Thats what I am dealing with on my ski. The guy prior to me replaced the top end and trashed it right away. Look for cracks in the casing

    alright i will deffently have to look for that when i look at it and i totaly forgot that i could do all the work on the crank my self a skool i am in marine mechanics institute lol were there really any major problems with those skis

    Are you certain it's a 951? In 97' the XP's were 787's..
    Just make sure before you go buying a crank...

    it is a 787 but thats still expensive for a crank mabe i should just put some more money in the polaris

    I agree, cranks are expensive. I just didn't want you to shell out some serious coin for a 951 crank if you have a 787 motor...
