The Polaris 2-stroke oil pumps (on both Fuji and domestic engines) are actually fairly reliable, as long as the oil hoses are replaced before they get too old, and you inspect the oil lines from time to time. Replace the oil filter from the oil tank annually.

Not a lot of trouble, overall, for the convenience of re-fueling with straight gasoline.

The variable rate (post 1994 models?) Polaris oil pumps use about 1/2 the oil on average as pre-mixing the oil into the fuel. At full throttle, you still get the full oil ratio, but at lower throttle levels the oil rate is reduced, producing less exhaust smoke, and more economical oil consumption.

Some other PWC brands did have reliability issues with their 2-stroke oil pumps, but not Polaris.

Oil is cheap, an engine is not!!!

How do you know when you oil pump failed or has a clogged oil line???

    The engine seizes......

I like premix with the block off plate ( $15) myself. As long as it's running, it's getting oiled.
