Rxp gas mileage and fuel display question.
Took a 107 mile trip today up the Illinois river and back. Kept my rpms at close to 6000 +/- 200 with only a minute of time at wot. 6000 rpm = 47.5 mph. River was smooth except for all the boat traffic. Water was 87 degrees and air temp was 92. Got 6 miles per gallon exactly. That would put the range at 90 miles assuming you could use 15 gallons of gas before the 16.3 gallon tank started sucking air.
My question is, how much fuel can you use before you run out? When the gauge drops from 3 to 2 bars there is 4.3 gallons remaining. When does the fuel light or buzzer, if equiped, come on? And yes, that was far enough!

the fuel warning comes on at 1 bar and you KNOW IT.. A really loud beep that scared the sh-t out of me 1st time I heard it. I think you have aprox 4 gallons reserve at 1 bar but I haven't checked

I have put over a hundred miles on one tank on a few occassions.

When you hit 1 bar, the fuel warning goes off and you have have about 20 miles I'd guess. Then it will go off again and show no bars. You can go around 5-10 miles on that. I've done it a couple of times

Unless it is an emergency, I would NEVER run the tank below where the warning buzzer first sounds. While it is not as harmful to a 4-stroke engine as a 2-stroke, running down to where the fuel could get aerated in choppy water can harm the fuel pump as well as suck up everything in the bottom of the tank.

I have ran down to the buzzer a couple of times but I also dont like to do that. Plus when the ski gets low on gas that is more weight loss off the front that helps keep the nose down in the chops.
