    MFD Question

I found a 01 Virage with a 700 motor in it. The mfd is different than the one out of the 2000 SLX. Im going to put the 1200 motor in the virage. Will the mfd in the virage work with the 1200, or do I need to put the mfd from the SLX in the Virage?

Yes they will work. The Mfd doesn't know the difference.I have the MFD from my 1050 in my 700,it works properly.

The virage uses a security system that's controllled by the mfd and uses a different regulator, but that shouldn't stop it from working.

The MFI display in the Virage 700 hull will work with the 1200 motor. There are some minor differences between MFI and MFD, like the MFI security (engine start lock-out), which you can utilize (with the right LR module and electrical box configuration), or just ignore.

I actually make use of the MFI security on my own Virage, since it makes it harder for someone to 'borrow' it from the dock when I am not right there.

There may be a difference in how hot engine, low fuel or low oil is handled by the MFI+regulator, in terms of RPM limiting. Again, this should be easy to sort out, if there is any issue at all.

I imagine you plan to take the 1200 CDI, 1200 ignition coils, 1200 LR module and 1200 stator wiring, and incorporate them into the Virage 700 electrical system. You might need to use the 1200 electrical box.

Without looking at the wiring diagrams, there may be some little things that will need attention when you blend the two electrical systems. The LR module would be where I would expect an issue, if there is any.

Document what you do, and draw a diagram of how you wire it all up. It will be useful if you need to do trouble shooting later on.
