    97 zxi 1100

Reading various forums on ZXI 1100 top speed acceleration and on average most say stock top speed is 57 mph; I have the following mods as listed on my ski and can only reach 55 mph top speed; any reasons why the decrease in top speed other than smooth water drag from the worx Intake grate?

    Current Mods: -
    a) K & N flame arrestors
    b) Primer kit for carbs
    c) Ocean Pro head
    d) Skat Trak “Swirl”13/19
    e) Shred master Ride Plate
    f) Worx Sponsons & Intake Grate

The mods you have are good mods but are really meant for the "get up and go" . With all that you are still pushing the same max rpms.

    Welcome to the Green Hulk!!

Have you tried any top speed runs with a stock grate?

Although the sponsons and intake grate work wonders on the handling for these skis, they also scrub off top speed in the process. The grate will probably cost you a little more top end speed than the sponsons depending on how the sponsons are set.

Also, are you checking speeds with a gps or the speedo?

At 55 mph I am pushing 7000 rpms; haven’t tried used using the stock grate; may try using the stock grate and see if any difference is made to top speed; checking speed with the skis speedo not gps; is there much difference?; the sponsons are set up for aggressive riding; does anyone know anything about a timing advance plate (6 degree advance) for the ZXi 1100 skis and where I can obtain one from?

The swirl impeller is known for better acceleration and hookup and a strait blade prop so you could be loosing speed with that, also the rideplate, intake and sponsons could be scrubbing speed. But also being a 97 your engine is most likely not as strong as it was new. Also higher altitudes, different humidity, and Saltwater vs. fresh all effect speed.
