    An idea

Does anyone have something similar to this, or capable of making this?

My idea is to weld a plate (12" x 8" or so) on to a ball mount. The plate would then have four holes drilled in it to accept a vise.

To think it out further, you could have a second plate that is larger, say 36" x 24" that would bolt to the smaller plate. You could then use the larger plate as a wroking area.

The idea came about when thinking of how to bend props on location, and not having to go back to the house for prop bending. I guess with the larger plate, you could just about use it for anything...work bench area ?!

An awesome idea, but I bet it has been thought of before. Anyone?

    Anyone with pics?

OK, so I won't take credit for the idea ...I thought it would be taken already. I am not welder, so how can I get one, or make one without welding?

I have one but its about an hour away right now. I took a 2x2" square tube about 3ft out or so then another piece of square tube steel 2x2" straight up and mounted the vice on the top of that. when I have the tailgate down the vice is about 3-4 inches from the back of the tailgate and the bottom of the vice is at the floor level of the bed, so i have the truck bed for a work area

I have seen hitch mounted setups like you refer to as well as guys mounting a vise to the trailer tubing. Both setups worked great that I saw in action
Some in our crew brought a black decker workmate and bolted a vise to it for prop bending at the river for tuning sessions.
wish I had pics to share

+1, I go to the local small town welder for small jobs and he usually knocks them out while I wait for $20-40
