Smile Percent of S/C failures 50%???

I was wondering ,we always hear about the S/C that go bad because of the washers ,question is how big of a problem is this?Is it as big as the 1992-94 first white engines (587)that had painted oil lines causing them to crack in the bend ,which let the engine destroy crankshaft as it was only getting half oil for ????? I must have rebuilt over 400 of them due to this only and I just had one shop with me and 1 other mechanic,2 helpers. So is it like 50% maybe.I have a customer now(i work solo from home)who bought 2 used 2006 supercharged skis and both engines grenaded within one week of each other,(he has 4 skis two gpr1200s)both needed rebuilt I rebuilt both but he had the seadoos rebuilt before He became my customer.SO bad luck out of 4 skis he bought 4 needed rebuilding within months of purchase,That has to be a record for bad luck!!So I am thinking the oil lines on GPR1200s and the S/C washers on seadoos must be at least 50% failure??Or am I just hearing about the bad ones?ANd How do those companys get away with this???>Marvin

I got 80 hrs. on stock ceramic washers... installed the 06 updated kit for another 20 hrs, then changed them out to riva metal washers for another 40 hrs. Never an issue... I feel failures have alot to do with how there maintained, and more importantly... how the ski is ridden

The fact is... they require maintenance and if its not performed they will eventually fail.

It sounds to me like the Sea Doos previous owner had no warranty left and knew there was either a potential problem or an existing problem.

From all I have seen..... The vast majority of problems that occured with older SC's happened with the ceramics in place.

If yor running around 7600rpms, you are fine. Plus you do not have washers, just gears that rub.
