Woman rescued on river bank

A woman riding a personal watercraft had to be rescued Monday night on the river bank near Middleton Place.
The Summerville woman was riding with a friend on the Ashley River when the pair became separated in a no-wake zone, the Coast Guard said. Her companion looked back and did not see her.
Rescue units from various agencies responded. After a two-hour search, she was found about 7 p.m. on the bank about 30 feet up the waterline, Coast Guard operations specialist William Swann said Tuesday. The assumption is that she hit the bank and flew off the watercraft, he said. No serious injuries were reported.
