    2002 Sportster LT

Is it me or are the two stroke engines a thing of the past? Before I baught the boat, I had no knowlege abot seadoo jet boats. Just thaught I was getting a good deal, ( purchased in 2007 for $6,000 ). Its hard to find mods for these engines( 720's ) without doing extensive engine work or high cost bolt-on's. Does anyone know if there are any mods out there that wont drain the wallet or dosent require a machine shop? The worst part is, two engines mean twice the price. The only work I've done to it was remove the exhaust resonator tubes, wich only changed the sound, and installed new wear rings. Any advice will be great.

change the props, put some flame arrestors on it but you will have to rejet the carbs...Maybe mill the heads but that will require you to run a high octane fuel.

If you think the 2 strokes are expensive to mod, try the 4 strokes

I found an impeller selection guide on atlanticjetsports.com web site. They recomended the SD-SC-X prop with a pitch 16-23, this seems a little steep to me. I also found OEM style wear rings with stainless steel inserts. Are theese wear rings any good?

Check out Group K, they do some boat mods... Most people don't mod them because of the cost factor... and if you spin your 720 hard it won't last too long.

    Tune it stock

You can mess around with the pumps to get more efficient, but " cheap"
motor mods are not there. Properly tuned with healthy pumps, this boat
RIPS HARD, I had one, it was stupid quick, bone stock, but dialed in.
If you want motor mods, Group K is the way to go. But easy couple grand
with shipping, and gaskets, etc, never mind your time. They burn less fuel
when using their mods. Bolt On stuff is NOT the way to go with this boat.
Read the Group K site, and you will see where you can go with it.
    Good Luck !

Dont you have a 951 in the sportster LT?

I thought the old sportsters had the single 720?

    14.5 motors

Basically, depending on year, these hulls had every 2 stoke motor in them
that sea-doo produced, from the 657 up to the 951 DI.

The 2002 LT model has two 720's. Dont get me wrong, it pulls hard and runs very well. I'm just looking for a little extra performance.
