    VTS Rod RxP-X

hey could someone measure their Stock Vts rod and compare it to my measurement? And does anyone know what kind of rod this is? It's metal and IIRC the stock is plastic.

I can't help with a measurement but that rod looks like one I just bought from R&D. Hope that helps.

thats what jerry said too. He just recommended me get a measurement from someone for the stock rod. He said it's probably robbing me some top speed.

The OEM rod is 7 5/8" long from center to center of the mounting holes. A properly adjusted after-market Riva or R&D rod is a little over 8" center to center.

Krazy, are you running a wedge? I can't really tell in the picture, but it appears that you are not. The after-market R&D rod can not be adjusted down to 7 5/8", so if you are not running a wedge that rod will be a little long causing the steering nozzle to point down.

no wedge. I picked up the ski this weekend and i was talking to Jerry about doing some more mods, and when i gave him my list he brought the rod to my attention.

Jerry is dead on. You should either pick up an OEM rod (about $10) or add a wedge. Otherwise, the VTS will not be able to raise the nozzle sufficiently and you will most likely lose some speed.

    ... yes you can.

Wedges on an RXP are really a matter of preference. I've run RXP's both ways and lean toward liking them. I definitely prefer them on my 3-seaters. One thing is for certain, by noon tomorrow this thread will have more opinions on the subject than you'll care to read.
