    Dual Batteries

I'd like to add an additional battery to my Yamaha vx110, either with a switch to select which battery or an isolator to make sure both batteries are charged properly. Anyone done anything like this?

It's done frequently on boats. My question would be, "Why?"

Personally I would not install 2 batteries in the ski. Extra weight, more crap in the ski to bang around, come loose, and cause problems, etc. However I recommend having a backup battery charged and ready to go if needed. You will know when the battery is going dead on the ski. Usually after its been out of the water and not ran for a while with no battery tender on the battery.

Get a good battery charger and you should never need 2 batteries in the ski.

    Just my .02. Good Luck

Unless you have total loss..then there is no need for a second battery. Your charging system is adequate enough to take of your battery for a while. If your battery starts to get weak, you will know it and just buy a new battery.

If your traveling long distances, with alot of stop start riding then fitting dual batteries is good insurance. It's one of those jobs which I am keen to do but have never got round to!
Not sure of the VX layout, but the pics below show two set ups on FXHO's....which have 'wings' in the rear compartment where a spare battery (AGM) can be mounted on it's side.

Dual battery set up, with fabricated tray in std battery position.

The pic is of Riverdads ski..... I believe he fabricated the tray himself, & is fixed in place with epoxy.
