wow! i say you're right about the water. That's rare for sure. I've only seen that in a big block chevy one time.

Glue it back together with JB weld and send it in as a core. Maybe they won't notice

i can only think maybe the thing was WFO and the pump locked up violently somehow?

I had a crank in a Ford Escort 4 cylinder do that ... broke in two places actually. Only 3,000 miles left on the warranty, was very well taken care of, not abused, noticed a loss of oil pressure, then oil leaking out the rear main seal. Shut it down, towed it in, crank had crumbled. NO other damage ... they put in a new crank and bearings only, everything else was fine. It looked OK, but when they removed a main cap the crank fell out in pieces. No idea what happened or why ... just odd metal fatigue and failure maybe?

A buddy put a high compression small block Chevy in a 28' Owens - a long time ago. It wasn't long before the high compression broke the crankshaft... Ron

What surprised me the most, other than the fact that the rod was barely bent, is that this was a 2002 motor. Which are notorious for the cranks breaking off at the snout. This one however did not. I don't think it was a pump lockup, as the crank snout would have defiantly been the weakest link.

This is actually a ski my dealer took in as a trade in, hes buying a crank off me haha.

The "story" was that it did get some water in the hull, and he was just riding mid throttle and it died. I think he got water in his intake manifold, and it just sat in the bottom until he hit a wave right, and a big gulp of it went right into a cylinder.
