    Quality of R&D Rideplates/Intake grates/trim tabs

    Hello guys,

what´s your experience with this parts?

They are highly uneven and geometrical unshaped.

    Trim Tabs: several millimeter uneven
Rideplate: several millimeter uneven and geometrical unshaped. (OK this is well known)
Intake Grate: Wings are cockeyed and the crossover to the pump shoe is very bad relating to the Original grate. (For Waterflow)

What are your meanings? Is the RIVA stuff better?

PS: I´ve modified and coated my parts , because they are just ball
polished and after one season in salt water there was much of
corrosion on it, despite good maintenance.

PPS: I will scan this parts with an Faro Laser Scan arm to measure the
geometrical variations. Maybe this ist the starting point for CNC machined parts.

It is not, the parts are so bad, my meaning is, they must be optimized to have 100% or in fact 90%.

PS: I´m not a fanboy from someone (except Yamaha i think the best product equal make should be used.
That´s the competition, where the customers could benefit from. But that´s only my point of view.
    As always forgive my english.

r&d's quality control is a joke if not non existent....

their ride plates are so out of wack its a joke and unless you get them machined they will never be true and level.

as far as their casting quality on their grates, dont get me started because they are just as bad if not worse....its all probably made in china anyways so its no wonder because q&a there is not exactly taken seriously.

sure we all use their parts but we all have to rework them to get all the bends, dings, kinks and angles trued before they are any real use to us.

i can absolutely confirm your point of view

I think if there were a company they made HQ Parts, then they would have
    a lot of work.

It must not be Carbon rideplates or so on, just good quality parts.

thats way out of line izzo, there quality control is a full time job for one employee and he's dedicated to his work and takes pride in it,

can you imagine how bad it would be if Stevie wonder left his quality control position at R&d

to be fair they are ok once you hit them with a lathe, mill, surface grinder, bench grinder, linisher, radiusmmaster (shameless plug), welder, powder coating, drill, deburing tool, angle grinder and microwave

You know I always hear crap for my Pro-tec grate being slower but this thing is so damn dead on perfect it is rediculous. Thats why I have the pro-tec steering nozzle also. The R&D ride plate I have is only nice because it went to Jim.

    R and D sucks ass.

My rive D-plate, gas cap, free flow and power filter are fine.
