The motherboard/bios needs to have the ability to display the temps. What kind of motherboard do you have?

There are programs for PC for that. This Macbook has temp sensors all over the place. I've seen the CPU at 160 degrees and yes, that temp is OK. Temperature Monitor is the app for Mac.

There's tons of freeware utilities out there, check download.com. I use Nvidia Ntune for GPU utils. It shows temps & has an overclocking util but not sure if it would work with an ATI card. I use a Gigabyte board which comes with their EasyTune5pro...shows temps, fan speeds, frequencies & voltages. Again not sure if it will work with other maufacturers.

If you know the motherboard model (probably be able to get it from the bios) you can goto the Asus website and download all of the utilities.
