    SHO hard to start

Any one else had starting probs with the SHO?
After idling for a while, then turn it off and go to start it again it just winds over and over without firing, it also shows L on the dash.
Been to dealer, nothing shows up, tried new plugs, has had the crimped fuel line prob fixed.
Any help would be great thanks.

That's what I thought too, but one of my RXT's developed similar problem at 275 hours, it would try to turn over, after about 5 tries it would always start. This was strange, because these skis have always started first time. Dealer checked it out, replaced the solenoid under warranty and it solved the problem. Apparently the solenoid was not dead, but going bad, might be worth a try...

Hard starting could be several things.
Here is a list you could check.
The ones underlined i would check first
    Fuel system
    Fuel tank breather hose
    Check valve
    Fuel hose
    Fuel pump
    Fuel filter
    Fuel tank
    Fuel rail
    Fuel injecters
    Power Unit
    Compression
    Engine oil (maybe to low)
Air filter(need to clean or change)
    Supercharger
    Valves and Valve seats
    Valve pads
    Camshafts
    Timing chain
    Head Gasket
    Cylinder block
    Piston rings
    Pistons
    Bearings
    Electrical
    Spark plugs
    Ignition Coils

    Hope this helps you.

If my SHO has been sitting for a few days, it always takes a few extra cranks to start, but after that, it starts right up...

That sounds exactly opposite of what you're seeing, though

When I first got my SHO it did the same thing. There was not enough clearance in the throttle cable and an SHO will not fire if the throttle is open at all. The dealer adjusted the throttle cable and it works fine. Took them 5 minutes under warranty.

BTW It is my understanding that this is a Yamaha feature that allows you to open the throttle and crank the motor with no fuel or spark to clear a fouled plug. I have used it for just that on my 04FXHO.

    Hope this helps.
